Thanks John I've managed to sort it out now it was the wavy washer at the handle bar lever originally I had tightened the lever nut as tight as I dared but it did nothing so assumed it was the magneto end but having since relooked at the handlebar lever took the wavy friction washer out and bent it more and hey presto it did the trick....cheers....

I take it that the spring is inside the fitting at the top left and not under the plunger that moves the cam?

OK my learned friends little bit of an issue with my CK1 advance retard mechanism see vid below

My CK1 is slack wire advance so full retard is tight wire as you can see at full retard the spring pulls the lever to full advance of its own accord without touching the lever what's the fix....your advice is as always much appreciated
