As far as I understand all the factory records were destroyed or disappeared during the AMC takeover.

I see that that tells us how many bikes are known to MSCR but I don't see the data on how many were actually manufactured
What am I missing?

1892 machines in the registe ris agood start!
I think I remeber seeing number manufactured by model and year somewhere, so if I could find that again I'd have the other part of the answer!

Well, you can consult the club homepage and see 1892 machines in the register. For the rest you can take it as the beloved Donald Rumsfeld:

...there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know.  8)

I am sure this question must have been answered before, but I haven't found it!
My grandson asked me today how many Sunbeams survive, so of all made, what proportion is still around and together (his question propmted by the fact that I am midway rebuilding a Model 9A from several boxes of (not always related) parts
I am interested to hear!
