Thanks for that. I took the back wheel to Chris yesterday and he replaced the bearings with, as you say, an ace conversion while I waited. Top bloke!

I'm after some advice.....
1931 Model 9.
Rear wheel bearing was loose, so I tried tightening it - and couldn't, so I've taken it to bits.
The cup of the nearside cone bearing is completely mullered.  I can think of several options;
Find a new/replacement rear wheel (unlikely)
find a new/replacement hub (equally unlikely and would then need wheel rebuilt)
machine out the old cup, make up a replacement and get it pressed in.
Get the hub converted to ballraces (best solution but who/where and will probably need wheel taking to bits)
Comments/advice gratefully received.  I'd like to ride it again this summer if I get find a solution fast enough
