Nowadays, you almost only see machines restored to a high gloss. However, a painter explained to me that such paints did not exist in the pre-war years. They could not be produced yet. It can therefore be assumed that there were no high-gloss cylinders back then either. I would opt for matt or satin, at max.

Quick question please - I intend to recoat the cylinder head and barrel - 1931 model 9. What type of black should i be aiming for please - matt, satin or gloss? Old coating looks gloss-ish!, but that could be from a previous resto. VHT do a gloss black HT enamel in a can which may suit.

Thoughts welcome
