Went to Brooklands yesterday their were the usual protagonists there and always interesting to talk with anyway had pre arranged to meet up with a fella to buy a Sturmey Archer CS gearbox 19T sliding pinion low gear for my Norton yay been looking for one for about 2 years so I'm over the moon and it looks like it's hardly been used so that's brilliant although on the downside no luck with my 1927 Sunbeam Model 9 exhaust  :(

ok So I've ordered som stuff from the shop including the Exhaust nut it says for model 9 I'll see when it turns up just need an exhaust Down pipe any thoughts.....Ben at Raysons can make me one (they're the best) but I really need to get the bike to him so he can fit to make sure it's bang on but that's a long way to go from Kent to Rochdale

ok chaps.....so all the components are together everything is looking good.....and then.....crack, Disaster....oops.......so it appears whilst fitting the exhaust / downpipe....which I have to say is I guess quite elderly a little rusty and a bit dented in places and obviously as I've now found out now quite frail especially right up by the exhaust nut I've managed to crack the header pipe it looks as though there was no bendability tolerance in it whilst trying to get it all to align with the silencer and fixing brackets......god dammit so near yet so far it looks like it won't be attending Brooklands this Sunday aghhhh!!!.....anyway I've weighed up my options and to be honest I don't think the original is worth saving I mean I could maybe have the crack Tig welded over but I reckon it's too thin and it it'll look a bit nasty I could have a length cut off and a new bit with flange welded on but that'll look pants too as I'll then have to nickel plate the entire thing....so the only conclusion I can come to is a new down pipe, Exhaust nut and copper gasket sealing ring......can someone tell me which Exhaust nut I need and where I can purchase a ready made Nickel plated down pipe.....I might even buy a new Silencer end so at least it'll all look shiny bright and new

Best Regards
