Had a great ride today on my 1930 '9'. Wet sumping wasn't a problem years ago because bikes were used as the manufacturer intended.

I have never had a problem with leaving the fuel in the tankover the winter.......keeps the corks in the tap wet; however it is best to run the engine with the tap off until the carburetter is dry because the volatility of the petrol will be reduce by evapouration.

Unless you have a tap in the oil feed the sump will fill up and will need draining when you next use it.

Hi Folks
I was wondering what advice you would give for laying up my 1930 Model 9 bike over the winter. Should I drain the tank and carb of all fuel? If you do do this do you end up suffering from the seals in the carb and fuel tap drying out and then leaking when you put fuel back in?
