I normally fill my chaincase just enough to touch the bottom run of the chain when the engine is stopped. You can see this with a torch through the chain inspection hole.

How much oil should there initially be in the primary chain case? All the information i have available says "add half a teacupful of oil every 500 miles" but add to what? Many thanks again for any info! David.
